HOW TO BEAT THE GAME

STEP #1: Hire a crew without humans STEP #13: Land at 26S X 135E
STEP #2: Name your ship and sell off everything but engines STEP #14: Flux travel: 126,211 then 98,197 then 153,53 then 196,2
  (TRADE TILL YOU CAN EQUIP YOUR SHIP COMPLETELY) STEP #15: Fly to 244, 149, raise shields before entering anomoly.
STEP #3: (1) Go back to Starbase (35,73 - P1), fully equip your ship and train a crew.  Buy two Blasto Pods if you want. STEP #16: Flux travel: 215,171 then 181,153 then 70,82
STEP #4: Flux travel: 33,70 then 69,82 then 181,154. STEP #17: Go back to Starbase (35,73 - P1)
STEP #5: Fly to 244, 149, raise shields before entering anomaly. STEP #18: (2) Communicate with Pick up Gorzek (28,79 - P4)
STEP #6: Flux travel: 249,140 then 206,5 then 153,51 STEP #19: Flux travel: 33,70 then 71,82 (or use a Jump Pod to get there)
STEP #7: Pick up Guardian Key at 106, 14 STEP #20: Travel to 117,153 planet 2
STEP #8: Flux travel:  134,21 then 156,47 then 99,197 STEP #21: Get out of immediate range and use two Blastopods
STEP #9: Travel to 131,219 planet 2 STEP #22: Kill any surviving Umanu ships
STEP #10: Leave encounter range to bypass the guardian STEP #23: Communicate, use the UHL weapon, win the game.
 
  1. All you really need are Class 5 shields, Class 5 engines, and a fully trained Navigator.
  2. Be aware of the communications bug.  If Gorzek will not respond, exit and save the game, and use some utility such as CPUGrab or Dosbox to slow your PC down by at least 90-95%.  Once he finishes communicating with you, you can speed the game back up.
